With over 20 years experience in international brand and retail strategy consulting, Mariann is the Partner and Director at 20.20 responsible for ensuring that our approach is relevant to our clients’ needs today and in the future. Mariann has worked across a variety of industries including food and specialty retail, fashion and department stores, financial services, automotive and telecommunications. Working closely with senior management teams at Kingfisher, Waitrose, Rewe, Valora, Prenatal, DeBijenkorf, Electrolux, Rank Group and Orange, she drives change to deliver success. As a partner to her clients, Mariann has a deep understanding of the strategic processes required to deliver successful and innovative propositions. She has worked on major strategic retail and branding projects in the UK, China and across Europe. Mariann joined 20.20 in 1997 to set up 20.20 RADAR – the international market and consumer intelligence unit focused on retailing and consumer behavior. Prior to moving to London, Mariann was deputy agency director for Lowe/GGK in Warsaw. She lived and worked in Boston, New York, Milan, Prague, and Vienna. Fluent in five languages she regularly writes for and speaks at international conferences. In her spare time, Mariann is also a theatre producer. Mariann has a BA in Art History and Economics from Wellesley College, Massachusetts, USA. Jim is the Managing Director of 20.20 and has led the business since January 2004. He has helped orchestrate the business’s growth as a leading European strategic design consultancy, specialising in retail and leisure. Jim oversees the development of the firm’s strategy, offer and people – developing and expanding the business focus to new sectors. Building on 20.20’s reputation for ensuring clients’ commercial objectives is achieved by giving customers a better, more meaningful and personalized experience. Jim also serves as a client director on accounts and has a real expertise in powerful retail brands and experiences. His more recent clients have included Arsenal Football Club, American Express, Nissan Motors Europe, Ann Summers, Pets at Home, Hobbycraft and Nokia. He joined the business in August 1996 as director of brand and communications and was responsible for the rebranding of Sainsbury’s Supermarkets in 1999 and its implementation across the UK. Prior to joining Jim specialised in major brand identity programmes and led the Saab dealership rebranding project in Europe and Mitsubishi Motor’s global identity and showroom programme. Jim is currently President of the Design Business Association, where he is a spokesperson for the industry, focussing on the effectiveness of design in society and the global power of design thinking in business today. As our former Head of Graphics, Kevin has strengthened our business development team with his talent for creative precision and his experience working closely with clients to deliver successful projects across multiple sectors. Today his role is to develop, nurture and inspire client relationships, leading the way in branded experiences by developing our expertise and expanding horizons for design effectiveness. Since joining the business in 2012, Kevin has been responsible for the creative integrity of projects across multiples sectors including food and specialty retail, fashion and department stores, hospitality and stadia work. He has delivered projects for Tui, B&Q, Kingfisher, Sainsbury’s, Mothercare, Valora, Wembley Stadium and Chelsea FC. Kevin has lectured at conferences and universities, contributed to various industry publications and also acted as a mentor for the Young Creative Network. Vaughan became head of graphics in 2015. He is responsible for the creative integrity and standards of projects. He joined 2020 in 2007 and has worked on, Arsenal FC, delivering the concourse level graphics celebrating special fan moments; in the award winning Club Level he led the design of the graphic language for six unique hospitality spaces. He designed the wayfinding for the Wing at Silverstone and graphics for the hospitality spaces of both Liverpool FC and Wembley Stadium. Most recently he led major in store communication (digital and physical) evolutions and revolutions for Post Luxembourg, Poland’s leading entertainment retailer Empik, the leading Electronics retailer in KSA, eXtra, deBijenkorf and V&D in the Netherlands, United Health Group in the US, cinema chain Odeon, DIY retailer B&Q and mother & baby retailer Mothercare in the UK. Jon is the Creative Director at 20.20, responsible for setting the vision and direction of our creative offer. He is a powerful advocate of our collaborative and strategic approach and a firm believer that the world will be a better place when people feel more involved and connected. Before joining 20.20 in 2004, Jon’s clients included Lego, TAG McLaren, Sony, Singapore Airlines, Toyota and FIFA. He started working in-house ant Pepe Jeans and spent two years in Asia working for Star TV and Batey Advertising. He is a regular speaker at events and conferences across the globe. Lorraine joined the client services team in August 2004 and brought with her experience as both an interior designer and project manager from a variety of architectural and design practices, including a management position in Nicole Farhi’s home division. Now, as head of client services at 20.20, Lorraine champions our client service promise, managing and supporting our team of account directors, instilling a consistent quality of service and creating rewarding relationships with our clients. As an account director, Lorraine has partnered 20.20’s largest and longest standing clients, including B&Q, Prenatal, Mecca Bingo and Pets at Home. Working across all sectors, throughout Europe, on projects spanning radical re-invention to evolution step-changes with proven successes. Lorraine’s design background gives her an understanding of the creative design process from concept through to delivery, coupled with her strategic and analytical approach, she works effectively with clients at all levels from CEO to the working group. Lorraine recently spoke at the GDI conference in Zurich on the power of good client relationships. Lorraine has a BA(Hons) in Interior Design from London Metropolitan University. Her background is in corporate branding with a focus on retail and service provider brands. Since joining the business, Emma has nurtured client relationships and successfully managed projects across multiple disciplines and sectors. Projects include; Corporate brand development, digital solutions and stadia design for Liverpool Football Club; Retail brand development, store design and communications for V&D in the Netherlands, Smyk & Cool Club in Poland, Strauss in Germany, BHS and The Original Factory Shop: Retail design, in store communications and digital solutions for Thomson Travel and Maplin. Read about Michael. Michael is a commercial and creative brand strategist. He started at 20.20 in 2006, progressing to the Board in 2015. With customer-facing skills entrenched from working on the shop-floor as a boy for the likes of WH Smith, ASDA and Debenhams, through to his managerial years working “client-side” at B&Q’s central office part of Kingfisher PLC, he has helped define change strategies as a leadership consultant in the leisure and retail sectors for over 12 years. As well as helping develop 20.20’s progression, he helps clients by setting clear and effective paths for the change required, with the customer always rooted at the heart and centre. Michael specialises in brand and market positioning, customer/fan analysis for segmentation and target definition, proposition creation and development, naming and identity creation, market/competitor analysis and customer insight from “live” customer study. Michael’s insight and knowledge will often find him appearing on the international Industry conference circuit, as a keynote speaker – from New Zealand, to Amsterdam, Denmark, Switzerland, USA and Canada to name a few. Michael graduated with first-class Honours with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Retail Management from Bournemouth University. She has over 7 years experience in the retail industry and is an expert at creating insight-driven brand propositions and experiences. Nicole has worked with some of the most well known and loved UK and global businesses. Nicole has a passion for retail innovation and conducted a feasibility study for the Technology Strategy Board to understand the impact of ‘the internet of things’ (the connectivity of devices, people, places and products) on the retail industry. Nicole enables clients to develop a deep understanding of their customer, delivering ROI through dynamic and robust strategies that genuinely improve customer’s lives. Digital Art Director. Having innovated with a large variety of brands from eBay, Sony and Auto-trader, he is a digital creative who is highly tuned into the connected realm, along with the mechanics, logistics and creativity that goes into making great digital work. Hollie heads up our interiors team to deliver compelling and award-winning customer experiences for international businesses and small-scale clients alike. She is also experienced in architectural & joinery detailing and project management. Hollie has designed and delivered experiences that add value, emotion and impact to customer journeys across sectors.
