Training - Regional Logistics Program

Logistic training program. The Regional Logistics Program develops plans and guides that optimize our Region’s ability to manage resources and respond to a catastrophe. Overview. Disaster Logistics Training. During a disaster response a jurisdiction may not have the number of trained logisticians needed to execute effective resource management, movement control and commodity distribution operations. The Regional Logistics Program (RLP) has developed the Disaster Logistics Training Program with the goal of expanding the logistics capacity and capability in local EOCs throughout the country. The training provides participants with the knowledge they need to step in and assist when they are needed most. The program is easily accessible and does not require participants to be away from their desk for days at a time. The training program has 4 main components: Four courses are available in three formats – J ust-in-Time videos ( click the thumbnails to the right to view ), interactive web-based training and instructor-led classroom training : • LOG 101: The Disaster Logistician – an introduction to the general principles of logistics and the practice of disaster logistics in particular. The Just-in-Time video is approximately 20 minutes. The web-based and instructor-led versions take no more than one hour to complete. • LOG 200: The Logistics Center – based on the Logistics Center (LC) Plan developed by the RLP, this course explains the resource management process and how to support LC operations in an EOC. The Just-in-Time video is approximately 15 minutes . The web-based and instructor-led versions have two modules and take no more than two hours to complete. • LOG 201: Receiving and Distribution Center – based on the Receiving and Distribution Center (RDC) Plan developed by the RLP, this course explains how to support RDC operations from the EOC. The Just-in-Time video is approximately 12 minutes . The web-based and instructor-led versions take no more than one hour to complete. • LOG 202: Commodity Point of Distribution - based on the Commodity Point of Distribution (C-POD) plan developed by the RLP, this course explains how to support C-POD operations from the EOC. The Just-in-Time video is approximately 12 minutes . The web-based and instructor-led versions take no more than one hour to complete. Instructor-led training allows for facilitated discussions on local policies, procedures and sites, making it all more relevant for the student. The complete training program can be completed in one day. To learn more about the web-based courses and just-in-time videos or to schedule an instructor-led training in your jurisdiction contact Nancy Harris at: nharris@regionalcatplanning.org or (646)619-6773. Disaster Logistics for Leaders. Logistics involves everyone in a jurisdiction from the "man in the field" all the way up to leadership. Disaster Logistics for Leaders helps local leaders understand the important role they play in a successful Disaster Logistics operation. Two versions are available. The short version (6:28) provides basic information every leader must know when a disaster is looming. 6:28. The long version (15:41) provides more detailed information that can be used as part of an overall logistics preparedness plan. 15:41. Disaster Logistics for the Professional Logistician. Private sector supply chain managers and logisticians can bring a wealth of knowledge and experience into your EOC. Disaster Logistics for the Professional Logistician follows Bobby, a logistician from a local trucking company, as he assists the logistics team in the local EOC.
