Logistic basic knowledge. CERTIFICATE IN WAREHOUSING. Who is this course aimed at? This course is aimed at people who wish to develop their skills and increase their awareness of Warehouse operations and functions. It is designed to assist learners who want to introduce themselves to warehousing principles and those who wish to update their skills in this industry. Particular focus during the course is given to stock management and stock control. Minimum student requirements: Students will be expected to have Basic English skills. Basic mathematical skills are required for stock control. Course Aims and Objectives: The aim of the Warehousing Course is to: o Understand the history of warehousing and warehousing principles. o To gain knowledge of the different types of warehousing in Ireland today. o Assist students to understand the many functions and objectives of warehouses. o Improve students' effectiveness in a warehouse environment. o Develop health and safety skills, risk assessment ability and basic traffic management skills in a warehouse environment. o Understand the roles of a warehouse manager, warehouse supervisor and warehouse operative. o Improve the awareness of the students in the technologies currently in use and future technologies in the industry. o Develop the students' awareness of stock control and stock management techniques such as 'ABC' classification. o Improve the students' ability to perform in a stock-take and to record stock transactions. o Develop the students' capability to keep and maintain accurate stock records. o Develop the students' awareness role of the warehouse in a logistic operation. o Improve the knowledge of students in transport selection and the transport utilization. o Develop the students' skills in health & safety in a warehouse. Course modules include: The Warehouse : o The history of warehousing and its role in a business. o The types of warehouse and the styles of warehousing. o The functions of a warehouse. Logistics : o The history of logistics and its role in business. o The logistics supply chain and functions within logistics. o Types and styles of logistics operations. o The warehouse layout and design factors. o The warehouse racking and storage systems. o The warehouse process flow. o Transport vehicle types and uses. o Storage location types and uses. o MHE types and uses. o Warehouse roles and duties. The Stock and Orders : o The industry terms and meanings. o The order equipment and the order terms. o The order flow and order techniques. o Consolidation and cross docking. o Kitting and production. Stock Control and Management : o The ABC classification process. o The Purchase Record Card. o The Stock Record Card. o Stock counting and stock takes. o Processes and Procedures - development and uses. o The returns process & handling returns. Health & Safety : o The warehouse dangers. o Chemical and Hazard awareness. o Introduction to Fire Safety and extinguishers. o Performing a Risk Assessment. o Accident recording and reporting. Assessments: The course will include a total of three written tests: Basic Warehouse Knowledge - 8 questions short answers. Stock Classification - Perform an ABC classification of stock with graph. Stock Control - Complete a Purchase Record Card and a Stock Record Card. The students must successfully achieve all three exams to obtain certification. A single referral option to repeat an unsuccessful exam will be conducted as an option for students. Certification: Warehousing certification will be issued by Warehouse Training Solutions to successful candidates.
