Pathfinder in Korean logistics industry, Chosun Rice Warehousing Co., Ltd. Documentary evidences tell us that Korea Express Co., Ltd. was founded as Chosun Rice Warehousing Co., Ltd. (also known as “Chosun Michang”). Chosun Rice Warehousing Company was incorporated on November 15, 1930 and its first office was in Gyungsung Electronics’ building near today’s Euljiro, Seoul. The company marked 80th anniversary as of 2010. There is no two ways about Chosun Michang’s birth. Under the colonial rule, Japanese ruthlessly exploited a large amount of rice from Korean peninsula to meet ever-increasing market demands in their homeland. Koreans, as a countermeasure began to build warehouses to keep their staple food product.
