If your thinking of working 4am Flow Team, please read - Target Jobs

If your thinking of working 4am Flow Team, please read. Nothingness in Nowhere, Pennsylvania. Ive been a 4am Flow team member for almost nine months now, I have been actively searching for a better job in my trade but regardless of what you hear on TV, its still rough out there. This is a warning for you, if you are a hard worker, you will be exploited to do the work of 3 people and get zero compensation whatsoever, maybe a little pat on the back. You will meet some cool people and the job itself is hardwork. -Pay is terrible for a Team member / Team lead. If your competent and the TLs like you, getting 36-40 hours a week most of the time shouldn't be an issue. BUT the starting wage is 9.75, and it actually drops to 8.75 after 8am when the store opens. Dont be fooled this is NOT a nice cushy stand around job. You are constantly lifting, moving, walking from 4-8, including a lot of heavier bulk freight. The starting wage for a Flow member should be minimum 11/ hr. You will be lucky to clear 570-600 EVERY 2 WEEKS. Not a livable wage if you have rent / car / loans etc. Overtime doesnt exist, you will actually get in trouble for even being 1/2 hour over your 40 so dont ask. You are getting paid the same as Cashiers. -Advancement haha, Target does not want to promote TMs to high positions. They recruit college grads with no experience whatsoever for their exec jobs. Maybe you can get a TL job, but your looking at maybe a dollar more and truck loads of added stress, it isn't worth it believe me. -Incompetence and picking up lazy peoples work loads. Target has a very lax policy when it comes to firing people. If you play your cards right, it would seem you could call out once a week and be fine. Our team constantly has 2-3 people not show up on trucks, putting ridiculous added strain on the reliable people. -Raises are once a year and even if you show up every day, work you ass off, get the highest grade they can give you on your review, it will NOT exceed a dollar. Raises are a store political game, every store gets X amount of money. Nothingness in Nowhere, Pennsylvania. -Benefits are not bad, but again you make so little money taking the extra things out of your check is simply not doable for most people, including myself. -Workload is enormous, training is minimal. Trucks often exceed 2500 pieces, often fall on Food delivery days which can be a high as 600 at my store (not a big Pfresh store) And you will have under 20 (that is generous, our team is often around 15 including backroom) people to do all of this in four hours. Like I said this is not a cakewalk retail job, this is mad dash for four hours and your getting cashier pay. And your pay goes DOWN after 8am to 1230. Some days we do not take break until 830, there are NO breaks in that stretch, your TLs will be on you immediately if your loafing around. -If they realize your a fast and reliable worker, you will be 'asked' to do tasks that should be done by 2-3 people. Including pushing entire sections yourself, working multiple positions on the truck offload, and switching out to the floor to push or in the backroom to back stock / pull auto fills. It is exploitation, but don't just hate on your Team Leads, they are under ridiculous pressure from their bosses to get an almost impossible job done with minimal people. Most of theses bosses seem to have no idea what Flow team does, and most seem shocked when they grace us with their presence. I didn't write this to just bash Target, the turnover rate for this job in insanely high, a lot of people do not know what their getting into at all. I wouldn't recommend working for them unless you have no choice like I did (we all have bills to pay unfortunately) but look around the internet, Flow team is a rough job and you will be greatly underpaid for it. 1Heart in Swedesboro, New Jersey. Nothingness: You stated everything I have been unable to articulate up until now. Truthbehindthemasks in Davenport, Florida. I for one see only one problem with this job and that would obviously be the $4.00 deduction, hell that's gas or small grocery money I would be losing. How in the world do they get away with the difference? Also how would you do your taxes when asked what your pay wage is? Sounds like a problem waiting to come back to haunt you via IRS. As for the work and I'm not trying to be braggish, but at Wal-Mart we averaged two to three trucks a night containing freight of 2,000 plus to 3,000 plus and they all had to be done within at least a hour. Also on some occasions we would even get 4,000 plus and that's not just during the holiday's folks that's pretty much daily at the store I worked at. Now during the holidays, well some of you already know, but we would get even more trucks with more freight every year, but we got it done nonetheless even if it meant staying later, which I did A LOT of due to everyone leaving on me. Steve Tellers in Mound, Minnesota. Truth, I am curious as to what you mean by the $4 deduction. I've been at my store for seven months, I make way over 9.75 and I bust my butt everyday and I've earned every penny of it. I've had alot worse and now I'm being appreciated for the work I do. Idk what is wrong with that store but I love working on the 4am flow team. drea in San Diego, California. what hours are the shift and what's the min-max days they work you? thank you!
