Logistics Assistant. Job by NRC (Norwegian Refugee Council) Job Description. Being an employee of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Ethiopia the Logistics Assistant is expected to represent NRC in a responsible manner and always act in accordance with NRC’s Code of Conduct. Role and Responsibilities: The Logistics Assistant is responsible for vehicles, transport and procurement tasks at Jigjiga office. Generic responsibilities: The responsibilities depend to some degree on the existing organizational chart of the Country Office and the size and complexity of the operations. If these responsibilities are not reflecting the reality of the field operations, the COs can adapt the content as long as the structure and style are the same. Details shall be incorporated in the Work- and Professional Development Plan and not be included in the JD. • Ensure that all procurement processes are in compliance with NRC Logistics Handbook, other NRC policies and door requirements • Register and/or prepare requisitions, quotations and purchase orders and update status reports • Liaise with suppliers to ensure prompt and accurate delivery of goods, services and equipment. • Receive supplies and ensure that they are in good condition and accompanied with correct documents • Ensure that all NRC vehicles are in proper operating condition and coordinate vehicle • Coordinate and facilitate timely reporting of eventualities like accidents and breakdowns • Make sure that all NRC vehicles are equipped with necessary documents and equipment at all times • Filing of all vehicle records and reports • Plan, schedule and monitor transport of staff and material/equipment according to demands and procedures • Ensure that vehicles are used and maintained according to Logistics Handbook and other NRC policies • Distribute/organize transport of material and equipment according to procedures • Prepare documents as required by line manager • Manage inventory lists at all times • Act as security focal point ensuring all staff are trained on security procedures; • Supervise and train security guards • Not permitted to raise Purchase Requests (PRs). Raising PRs remains with admin and programme. Specific responsibilities: These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly. The line manager drafts the specific responsibilities and sends them to his/her line manager for approval. End month report for carpool & Stock report. Job Requirement. Qualifications and Competences: These are skills, knowledge and experience that are important for effective performance. Academic and Professional Qualifications • BA degree in Business Administration, Procurement and marketing or other relevant discipline • National Certificate or equivalent level of Asset management training. Relevant Experience • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience • Experience in a Humanitarian field context a strong added advantage. Generic professional competencies for this position: • Experience from working with procurement and logistics in a humanitarian/recovery context • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities • Knowledge about own skills/profile • Good knowledge of English.
