Featuring sustainable landscaping and community-centric elements, Supply Chain City will have a “Work, Learn and Live” concept that is unique from conventional logistics hubs and environments. With an investment of S$200 million, YCH’s Supply Chain City will redefine benchmarks in technology, innovation and productivity in the supply chain management industry. It will deploys the world’s first Fusionaris – a patent-pending fusion of Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) and Ramp-up Integrated Solution – which takes into consideration optimum floor planning, use of automation and integration of state-of-the-art warehousing capabilities that support logistics value-added (LOVA) and white glove activities to boost regional manufacturing and fulfillment. “The development of Supply Chain City is a significant milestone in the 57 years of YCH Group’s supply chain legacy. Our world-pioneering Fusionaris has been designed to create infinite possibilities for seeding innovative value-added solutions enabling agile, flexible and scalable supply chains that are today’s competitive edge for leading world-class MNCs. Supply Chain City seeks to inspire the future of supply chain in Asia and with our commitment in ‘innovating to survive’, coupled with a deepening Asia Pacific footprint, we are confident to deliver the next supply chain icon and hotspot in Asia,” said Dr. Robert Yap, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, YCH Group. Gracing the event was Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance. In his speech, he mentioned that YCH’s decision to invest in the Supply Chain City project comes at an opportune time. “We face a difficult and unpredictable global economic climate, quite possibly for a few years. At home too, we face a permanently tight labor market. By developing deep capabilities and transforming business operations to raise productivity, we can sustain business growth and do well in this environment,” said Shanmugaratnam. “Firms that drive productivity improvements through innovation, automation and by enabling their workers to raise their skills will not only do good for themselves but help Singapore to make a critical transition to productivity-driven economy.” The Supply Chain City aims to foster innovation and collaboration among the supply chain talent community and to lead the evolution of the supply chain industry in the region. Apart from the warehousing and logistics components, the facility has been designed with multiple lifestyle spaces for interaction and knowledge exchange, encouraging the sharing of best-practices and combining state-of-the-art office and amenities within a human-focused environment. Supply Chain City is expected to facilitate the activities of a 10,000 strong community of supply chain talent, including some of the most notable movers and shakers in the industry. Supply Chain City will be composed of an eight-storey modern block of contemporary office space and industry warehousing capabilities through Fusionaris – a seamless and innovative fusion of a 45m-high Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) with a five-storey ramp up warehouse. Targeted for completion in end-2014, Supply Chain City is expected to help Singapore become the next supply chain spot in Asia, and is set to shift paradigms for the supply chain industry in the region.
