What started with the vision of one man, Mr Neeraj Raja Kochhar, Chairman & Managing Director, Viraj Profiles Ltd; has numerous milestones to its credit today. Completing a journey of over two dec ades, and still going on, Viraj has come a long way. Over the years, the company has left a strong foot print across the globe while earning a strong reputation globally amongst its customers and partners and has increased its range of product offerings. The company which started its operations with one Induction furnace in 1991, has six different manufacturing plants today and has recently added one more feather to its cap in the form of fully automatic Section Rolling Mill. The new Section Rolling Mill has achieved level-2 automation and has annual capacity of 180,000 tons per annum. Other than the manufacturing facilities based in Tarapur, Viraj Profiles Limited also encompasses its own Logistics Division knows as Vaishno Logistics CFS. With its main fleet of trucks and container yard close to manufacturing facilities and a Container Freight Station at JNPT NhavaSheva port, the company is almost self-reliant in terms of transportation. The division also offers services to other exporters and importers. Over the years, Viraj has forayed into so many diverse industries inter-alia Petrochemicals, shipping, marine, defence, construction and architecture. The company was founded by Mr Neeraj Raja Kochher in the year 1991 with an employee strength of 150 people. Over the years the company expanded its operations across the globe, increased its product p ortfolio and today the company boasts of employee strength of 9000. Viraj, a Global name, is one of the largest producers of Stainless Steel Long Products in the world. At the helm of affairs is a strong team of capable leaders who take care of all aspects of its operations and day to day affairs. A brief snapshot of the profiles of the leadership team is given below to help know them better. Mr. Neeraj Raja Kochhar Chairman and Managing Director Post his success in the business of Logistics for two decades, he forayed into the arena of stainless steel in 1992. With his vision "to be counted amongst the most respected and preferred enterprises globally", Viraj commenced operations with a small induction furnace manufacturing utensil grade steel for domestic markets. Fundamental in ensuring the continuous growth of the organisation, Mr Neeraj Raja Kochhar has transformed the company into one of the largest stainless steel manufacturers with a capacity of 528,000 tons per annum producing stainless steel wires, stainless steel wire rod, stainless steel flanges, stainless steel fasteners, stainless steel bright bars, stainless steel sections and profiles. An avid traveller and a voracious reader by hobby, Mr. Kochhar is the driving force behind the expansion plans of the current set-up which has made the company, one of the largest exporters of stainless steel long products in the country. Under his leadership Viraj has expanded its foot prints across 6 continents, more than 90 countries and is currently serving to more than 1300 satisfied customers. Mr Kochhar also played an instrumental role in making Viraj self-reliant in terms of its transportation needs. He was the driving force behind establishing the Container Freight Station which covers a total of 9 acres and has a handling capacity of 6,000 containers per month. Mrs. Renu Kochhar Managing Director A great support system during the development of the organization, Mrs. Renu Kochhar, is currently associated with Viraj Profiles as Managing Director. A Bachelor of Arts Graduate from Delhi University and having pursued a short term management course from Harvard University, Mrs Kochhar joined Viraj Profiles Ltd in 2001 as Director of the Profiles Division and actively participated in the day to day function of the department. Right from manufacturing to marketing, she has been the driving force behind the successful launch of the Profile product range internationally. A clear achiever with the desire to absorb and develop new skills, Mrs Kochhar left no stone unturned whilst learning and implementing production processes; researching market demand; understanding and attaining worldwide quality standards; developing strategies; integrating new technology and personally visiting customers abroad. Vaishno Logistic Yard CFS A division of Viraj Profiles Ltd is located on NH 4B about 15 kms from Nhava Sheva container terminals. This is the “only CFS& rdquo; within JNPT area conveniently located on the NH4B away from the congestion and heavy traffic around the Dronagiri junction ensuring smooth transportation between CFS and JNPT. Fully paved container yard of 9 acres for container stacking which can handle up to 5000 Teus per month with adequate warehousing space for import/export LCL/ FCL warehousing as per requirement. Adequate container /cargo handling equipment -2 nos of Reach stacker; 3 nos of 3 MT forklift in addition to one 5 MT and one 10 MT forklift for efficient 24 x 7 operations. Additional equipment are deployed as per requirement to provide un-interrupted service. State of art Hardware and Software to service the requirements of Customs, Importer/exporters and all other stake holders. Customized reporting to shipping lines and other customers. Efficient and alert security staff to ensure safe and secure storage of containers / cargo. Well trained and motivated man power to ensure timely and cost efficient services including lashing/chocking, Palletiastion, ODC transportation / handling and other value enhancing services. Reliable and ample transport fleet. No hidden costs Inland Container Depot (ICD) Inland Container Depots, otherwise known as ICDs, are dry ports equipped for handling and temporary storage of containerized cargo as well as empties. This means that hinterland customers can receive port services more conveniently closer to their premises. ICDs are a convenient shipping alternative extending port services closer to hinterland customers. Viraj Profiles Ltd, the leader in stainless steel long products, after its successful operations at CFS, Nhava Sheva has extended its logistics arm by setting up its Inland Container Depot – Vaishno Container Terminal at Tarapur, Maharashtra. The Inland Container Depot (ICD), a part of Viraj Profiles Ltd is located at Tarapur- Boisar, in Thane district, at a distance of 150 Kms from the Nhava Sheva Terminals and 128 Kms from Mumbai Port Terminal , with a travel time of around 4-5 hours, ensuring smooth transportation between ICD to Gateway Ports. Connected by rail and road, the Vaishno Container Terminal has paved yard of 11.4 acres for container stacking and handling up to 5000 TEU's per month, with adequate warehousing space of 33000 Sq.ft for Import/Export, LCL/FCL cargo, as per requirement. State of the art container/cargo handling equipment, trained manpower and its connectivity to the gateway ports are some of the key points which will contribute towards the success of the ICD. Maintenance and repair (M&R) facilities for containers are also available for all kinds of repairing, cleaning and sweeping, along with world class safety and security systems. The Vaishno Container Terminal provides customs clearance facility near the centre of production and consumption, reducing the clearance time considerably and doing away with the necessity of custom clearance at getaway ports. Reduced demurrage, pilferage and logistics cost, add to the facilities attraction for commercial units. Import containers are de-stuffed and can be retained at the ICD, reducing empty container repositioning cost to zero. These containers after inspection and repairs can then be provided for dock stuffing/factory stuffing of export cargo, again, reducing empty container transportation cost.
