Logistic analyst duties

What is an logistics analyst? already exists. Would you like to merge this question into it? already exists as an alternate of this question. Would you like to make it the primary and merge this question into it? exists and is an alternate of . A logistics analyst is a person who studies data in order to understand the optimum way of storing and distributing goods (or, less commonly, waste products). The work is usually carried out using computers. For example, in a retail business with 100 suppliers of goods, one warehouse and 200 stores, a logistics analyst would study sales information to answer questions like: - should any suppliers deliver directly to any stores, or should all the goods be distributed via the warehouse? - how much stock should the retailer have in the warehouse and at each store? - how many deliveries are required to each store, each week? - how many trucks are needed to deliver to the stores (should the trucks operate 5 days per week, or can they work at night or on the weekend too)? - should the retailer have two warehouses instead, say one in the North and another in the South? - should the retailer get rid of any suppliers or stores? The answer to each question will depend on the retailer's policy about striking a balance between cost and service. The analyst does not usually make policy decisions, but they work as part of a team where business strategy is decided, based on facts.
